The netwebly guide to the internet is still in beta testing.

Although the netwebly guide to the internet is now open to the public, we still have a lot of work to do. Some areas of the site are still under development.

It won't be long. We promise.

How you can help

Surf the site. Take a look around. Let us know what you think. Are there things you'd like to see which aren't up yet?

Let us know what you think. We also have openings for talented writers and programmers - if you're interested, you'll find more information below.

So you're kind of worked up about this whole Internet thing. It's natural. The web is alive with ideas and people and sites which make it probably the most exciting beat in journalism today.

The netwebly test

If you'd like to write for the netwebly guide to the internet, see if you can pass this simple test. Find three web sites you like or three that you hate (it doesn't really matter which, we just want to see if you can write) and write a graph on each.

Use your best judgment as you consider the sites you may want to review.

Is the site worth inclusion?

Is it exciting?

Do people really need (or want) to know about it? What makes it worth mention?

Before you start writing take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with our content. Many of our reviews are unlike the material you'll find at other web sites. That's because the idea here is to develop a unique voice that keeps web surfers coming back for more - a voice that entertains as well as informs. Essentially we have a hybrid creation on our hands - a web site that's trying to combine the objectivity of traditional journalism with the ease of use of a traditional web guide.

You'll notice a few things are different about our reviews. For one we assume our readers understand the basic concepts behind the internet. We also assume they are well-educated, widely read and capable of making assumptions and inferences based on the material in front of them.

We think this platform creates an excellent opening for writers who are talented and knowledgeable enough about the internet to take a great deal of material and bring it all together.

So give us your best shot.

Send us your three reviews in the body of your e-mail (no attachments please), remembering to include your contact information, including a telephone number where you can be reached.

We'll get back to you information about our programs for writers, including details about compensation and links to our writer's guidelines and our editorial policy. Please do not call or fax us regarding the status of your submission. Be patient. We will get back to you.
